Leonids

After four cold hours at Red Rock I only caught one small meteor Monday night...

Nikon D60, 18mm, f3.5 ISO 1600, 20 second exposure with some Photoshop work.

  1. I waited there for only 45 minutes and couldn't see anything either :( I'm glad you share it with us, I always wanted to see , thank you so much for sharing, but you've been taking the picture at the same angle in that 4 hours right?

  2. I saw a dozen or so really nice meteors that night, but nothing like the fireball that streaked across Utah the folling night. ;^)

I had the D60 basically at that same angle the whole time. I took about 140 images with it and #129 is the one above. The D70 was shooting at a slightly different angle and I only captured about 20 frames. Mostly because I was messing with extreme exposure times like the 16 mintue one posted earlier.

Several meteors passed through the field of view of both cameras but unfortunately neither shutter was open when that happened. That's the way it goes.
