Dragonfly
This is the second time I was able to take detailed pictures of a Dragonfly in the Redrock area. For some reason these dragonflys are fearless. This giant let me take about a dozen pictures with the lens less then a foot away from him, until I accidentally kicked the branch that he was perched on. At that point he snatched my camera, hit me over the head with it and flew off. I consider myself lucky.

Wow I love the detail in the dragonfly and its even more interesting with the background blurred out. I'm glad you survived the shoot.
ReplyDeleteSo, the Dragonfly won the fight? LOL! Very nice shots!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Dragonfly shots! I would have liked to hear more about the process.
ReplyDeleteHere was my process on the closeup shot. on AV (aperture priority)I start by getting as close to the subject my lens will allow, with the f-stop as low as it goes. as I take pictures I continuously raise the f-stop to grow the depth of field and get more of the Dragonfly in focus. I would have experimented more, but like I said, I accidentally kicked the branch he was perched on. Post production was done in lightroom.
ReplyDeleteNot just because I love dragonflies, these are beautiful - all about the wings and vivid light.
